IN MEMORIAM
Burger Boy of Cedar Crest New Mexico
Kathy Cushing
With heavy hearts, we share that Kathy Cushing, the heart and soul of Burger Boy, passed away last week at the age of 93.
For more than four decades, Kathy welcomed every customer like family. With her warm smile, generous spirit, and fierce work ethic, she helped turn a little East Mountain burger stand into something much more — a place where people felt seen, cared for, and always left with full bellies and hearts.
Kathy and her beloved husband Bill ("Green Chile Bill") poured their love into this place. Even after his passing, Kathy kept it going with her daughter Barbara by her side, never missing a day until her health began to decline last year. She believed in good food, good conversation, and in never turning anyone away hungry.
She was tough, kind, funny, and wise — and she leaves behind a legacy of love, community, and the best green chile cheeseburgers anywhere to be found.
We’ll miss her more than words can say.
Thank you, Kathy, for everything. 💛
